Know your Panties
Once upon a time, women’s underwear was purely functional. They covered the naughty bits and supported the breasts, when they were worn at all.
Thankfully, times have changed and we have a wide variety to choose from. In fact, a 2016 survey found that many women are still going commando (that is, not wearing panties at all), but of those that do, 40% prefer sexy and exciting styles like boyshorts and thongs.
Pay attention to the next 100 women that you see. According to the survey, most of them will be wearing bikini briefs. Specifically, 36. 21 will be wearing briefs, the same number as those wearing thongs (my personal favorite!). 18 will be wearing boyshorts, and 4 will be doing something else altogether.
Just so we know what to picture, let’s take a closer look at each style.
Briefs. Briefs are the classic panty. The waistband often sits above the navel and the legs are cut lower than the bikini counterpart. According to industry standards, the rise from the crotch to the waistband is 6 inches.
Hi-Cut Briefs. This style of briefs has the same waistline as classic briefs, but the legs are cut higher.
Bikini Briefs. These are briefs with a rise of 5 inches from the crotch. Some sit even lower, referred to as hipsters. No, that doesn’t mean they have thick-rimmed glasses and a goatee. They’re comfortable and stay below the visible belt or skirt line.
Tangas. A tanga looks similar to the bikini, but is more revealing on the bottom. Brazilian styles exposes even more of the bottom and is great for avoiding visible panty lines.
Thongs. My personal favorite. This style came from brazil and is the most revealing. Instead of fabric covering the entirety of the bottom, there’s a thin strip that’s more to maintain the integrity of the panties themselves.
Boyshorts. A newer style, boyshorts have surged in popularity recently. 50% of men prefer this style, which accents the bottom. The fabric is generally very thin.
So now we know the different styles of panties. Next time, we’ll talk about the different materials they can be made out of.
